Dilbert on motivation-hilarious

Sunday, September 28th, 2008

Though the current meltdown of the US financial sector has not affected the software industry directly (i strictly mean large scale layoffs here), it has affected everyone indirectly in more ways than one.
Came across this interesting take on “motivating the workforce” from Dilbert.

Dilbert on Motivation

If money isn’t loosened up, this sucker is going to go down.

Sunday, September 28th, 2008

“If money isn’t loosened up, this sucker is going to go down.” - George Bush on the economy.

George Bush has done it again. Whether he can come up with a long term solution for the current crisis (i don’t believe that bailout is a solution. It is just deferring the crisis) is anybody’s guess. But one thing is sure, he never misses any opportunity to come up with his bushisms.

This is what Conan O’Brien of NBC had to say on his late night show. “One thing is clear from this statement of George Bush. And that is he does write his own speeches.” Hilarious indeed!!!

Labor Day weekend plans foiled!!!

Saturday, August 30th, 2008

For a change, i tried to plan a weekend trip for the labor day weekend…With not too many viable options to explore, i zeroed upon a getaway that wasn’t particularly exciting…to make it exciting and sell my idea i came up with the following mail to spice things up a bit…but, alas, not a single person agreed to be party to my plan :(

My mail:-

Guys,

Stressed out after years and years of hard work…want to get away from all the atrocities that this city life has to offer…want to give your mind and soul the peace it has longed for….

Well, wait no long…look no further…canoeing trip in the serene waters of Florida tomorrow (Saturday) is the perfect get away for you…forget all worries and re-energize your brain while canoeing in the picturesque ambiance that south Florida has to offer.

There is this place called “Riverbend Park” 50 miles from here. We can rent a boat and canoe to our hearts content. When we get tired, just pack up and head back home…Does that sound interesting or what? (to be honest it doesn’t :…but what the heck…lets give it a try!!!)

Feel free to forward this to anyone who you think might be interested!!!

Herez a pic of the place to bolster your enthu further…

Trust Vote more interesting than an Ind-Pak T20 final

Sunday, July 20th, 2008

The trust vote to be held on July 22nd in the Indian parliament is in all probability going to see a nail biting finish. If the follow up to the vote is anything to go by, lots of surprises are in store for us. Indian politics has all come down to the numbers now. Ideologies are non existent or have taken a back seat. The marginal parties have suddenly come into the limelight. Its their moment to milk the cow (Indian taxpayers money). Every single MP has become invaluable and the going price for each MP who is on sale is several crores (Rs 25 crore to Rs 100 crore as per newspaper reports). Neither the UPA, nor the NDA and UNPA wants to leave anything to chance. Remember how the AB Vajpayee lost the vote of confidence in 1999 by just 1 vote (269 to 270) and  the country was pushed to fresh elections.

But we will not know anything till the verdict is out. It is total chaos out there. BSP clamis to have support of 5 to 7 SP MPs. Some of them have openly switched sides. On the other hands SP’s Amar Singh says that 10 BSP MPs are having chai-pani in his house. Shibu Soren (JMM spuremo) has already pledged their support for UPA afte brokering a great deal (Union cabinet minister berth for himself, jharkhand’s deputy CM’s post for son and a Mos for one of his MPs). All this on the basis of 5 MPs that he has. Dewe Gowds of JD (S) with 3 MPs and RLD of Ajit Singh with 3 MPs have decided to vote against the UPA. Omar Abdulla of NC says that he has made up his mind on whom to vote for but will not make it public until the debate of the floor of the parliament. On the other hand, congress clamis to have poached several BJP MPs and so does the BJP. We will not know anything for sure until the final ball is bowled (oops….until the final vote is cast) on July 22nd.

Everything in USA is falling and so is Miss USA Universe

Monday, July 14th, 2008

Looks like everything else in the US is falling these days (well apart from the oil prices). Economy is falling, jobs are falling, salary increment is falling, tv standards are falling and what not. Keeping up with the trend Miss USA 2008 Crystle Stewart fell on stage during the final round of Miss Universe competition 2008 (won by Miss Venezuela Dayana Mendoza) in vietnam. To her credit, she was graceful enough to recover and complete her walk with a smile on her face. But falling on stage did mess her chances up. If you recollect, Miss USA 2007 Rachel Smith also fell on stage in the final round of Miss Universe 2007 that was held in Mexico City, Mexico. I wonder what is it with these American beauties and falling on stage!!! Click me to know more »
